It used the factory mount points and didn't touch the exterior painted surface at all, a BIG bonus in my book. I'd go for whatever mounts to the factory mounts. The wind noise from the roof rack (even with the ski holders removed, and just the base bars installed) is surprisingly loud. It's a persistent whistle. My wife and I joke that the tea kettle is ready.
